ANDREW HUTTON

Managing Director & Principal Consultant

Andrew is the Managing Director and founder of IEMA Pty Ltd who are a specialist Environmental & Management Advisory consultancy based in the Hunter Valley, NSW. The team has offices in Newcastle and Canberra.


Prior to this current position Andrew was a Technical Director and Executive member of the SLR Australia Pty Ltd Asia Pacific Regional Management team (RMT) as well as being the Asia Pacific Regional Sector Leader for Mining and Minerals.


Andrew has 25 years of experience working in small and large businesses working in the mining, agriculture and extractive industry sectors.


Andrew was previously the Principal Consultant and General Manager of GSS Environmental (GSSE) taking the consulting business from start- up in 2003 and building the firm into a multi-disciplinary environmental and engineering consultancy of 50 people based in Newcastle, Mackay and in Sydney. GSSE was acquired by SLR in 2012. Andrew has had experience in merger-acquisitions and integration of teams.


Andrew is an experienced Environmental Auditor with certification covering the scopes of Environmental Audit, EMS, Environmental Report verification and Compliance auditing. He has significant experience undertaking audits, including numerous transactional due diligence audits for mining and industrial clients.


Andrew is currently a Commissioner with the Independent Planning Commission NSW (IPCN). The IPCN is a statutory body established under the NSW Environmental Planning and Assessment Act (1979) being appointed by the Minister of Planning in 2015 and subsequently reappointed for a further 3 years in 2018. In addition to this he was recently also appointed now Minister for Planning and Open Spaces for one year as the State Member for the Western Regional State Planning Panel


In 2018, Andrew completed the Australian Institute of Company Director (AICD) Company Directors Course with the goal of seeking a Directors appointment to a Board where his many skills and attributes can add value to the providing input into the strategic direction of an organisation.
